GoDaddy CEO Blake Irving sat down with me to discuss GoDaddy’s strategy behind their new generic Top-Level Domains (gTLD), why owners should adopt these domains to help define their business, and an inside scoop about the rollout of close to 800 TLDs planned for release later this year.

The TLDs, are part of the web address to the right of the dot (“.”), with the most common being .com, .net and .org. The new TLDs were created to help owners define their website, brand, business, group or organization to their customers. Some of the new extensions are based on technology, professions, activities, sports or industries. Watch the video here.

AZTB will be bringing you more from my chat with Blake Irving over the coming weeks. Stay tuned to learn more about the guy behind the CEO title, the “It’s Go Time” campaign, what Irving is doing to drive GoDaddy to $5B in sales, and an exclusive jam session.

GoDaddy currently has over 56 million domain names under their belt, produced $1.3 billion in sales in 2012, noted as one of the best companies to work for by Fortune and Phoenix Business Journal, is the world’s largest domain name provider, Web hosting provider and new SSL certificate provider, and ranked as the 91st Most-Visited website in the world.
